Water Utilities Consolidation

On January 23, 2024, Council approved consolidation of the West Hants and Windsor Water Utilities, including updated Rules and Regulations and rate changes. This decision was based on a water rate study prepared by consultants.

The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (UARB) regulates and oversees all water utilities and MUST approve these changes. This is done through a public hearing process. The UARB hearing is May 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at 76 Morison Drive, Windsor. Rate changes are being proposed for 2024-25 through to 2026-27. The UARB can accept, adjust or rule against these proposed rate changes.

All utility customers will be charged at the same rate (dependent on meter size). The last changes for water rates in West Hants occurred on April 1, 2021. The last changes for water rates in Windsor occurred on April 1, 2017.
