Aquatic Centre

The Hants Aquatic Centre is a heated pool and provides a six-lane junior Olympic Pool, a leisure pool with beach front entrance for accessibility and a tot's pool. An Access Lift facilitates the entry and exit for persons of all abilities and is remote controlled, sturdy and able to support up to 400 lbs.

Built by the Hants Aquatic Society, the Centre opened in 2007. In 2010, heat pumps were added, and a liquid chlorination system was purchased and installed in 2011. The pool is operated and funded by the Regional Municipality and overseen by the Pool Governance Committee.

We believe that aquatics is for everyone and persons requiring special attention will be assessed and the determined level of support will be provided by our awesome Hants Aquatic Centre Team.

Slip, Slap, Slop!

We are continuing to make Sun Safety a priority for both staff and participants. NS has the highest rate of skin cancer in the country; the number of cases of other cancers is declining while the cases of skin cancer are increasing!

The risk of developing skin cancer increases due to the number of sunburns one has throughout their lifetime. So, remember to SLIP, SLAP, SLOP this summer. SLIP on a shirt, SLAP on a hat, and SLOP on the suncreen (SPF 30+ with broad spectrum UV protection and water resistant/proof), and of course, seek shade. Try your best to avoid the peak UV hours which are 11:00am - 3:00pm. Don't forget to wear your close-fitting sunglasses with UV protection.
