Welcome to the West Hants Sports Complex! We can't wait to see you!
In 2018, a plan was put forth by the former Municipality of the District of West Hants to build a year-round sport complex that would create health and wellness opportunities for all of its residents and capture the spirit of the Birthplace of Hockey! The West Hants Sports Complex opened its doors after the consolidation into West Hants Regional Municipality on November 6, 2020.
Many thanks to local hockey legend, Chook Smith and his family for taking part in the next chapter of our hockey history. Watch the video here.
On April 25th, 2023, West Hants Regional Municipal Council voted unanimously in favor of recognizing the accomplishments of John Paris Jr. to the world of hockey.
John faced many barriers, both personally and professionally, in his life. He overcame adversity; dealing with racism; and major health issues, with grace. John always remembers his roots growing up in Windsor and the values that his parents instilled in their children.
For his love of the game, for his continued work in coaching, and for his accomplishments on and off the ice, the Council of the West Hants Regional Municipality named the Rink at the West Hants Sports Complex the John Paris Jr. Rink.
The West Hants Sports Complex, provides an extensive variety of year-round activity options including skating, indoor walking/running/wheeling, rollerblading/rollerskating, exercise stations, open turf play, and houses local community sport organizations including soccer and hockey. We also house tradeshows, entertainment, events, and so much more.
