Plan a Community Litter Clean-up!

Hosting a litter clean-up is a great way to get involved in your community.

Now, learn HOW:

1. We encourage volunteers to register clean-up events through Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up about 2-3 weeks in-advance, if possible. This is a great way to track province-wide data, and help volunteers stay connected with events going on around them. With this platform, each group can choose to open their event to other volunteers who would like to join their efforts, or to keep as a closed group with a few close friends and family. They even offer contests and prizes to participants!

2. Next, if your cleanup is being held along any municipally-owned or provincially-owned roadway, you will need to complete a permit application. If you are NOT completing a cleanup along a public roadway (such as a beach or park), skip to step 3! Please reach out to one of the following contacts listed below, or download the appropriate pdf provided.

3. After the necessary permits are approved, or if you do not require a permit, please connect with your Waste Services Coordinator for (free!) cleanup supplies, and to find out what to do with litter bags after the event is over! The Coordinator can be reached at (902)798-8391 ext. 128, or by email via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

4. Lastly, we would love to see all the great work you've done throughout the year - email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any photos or videos that we have permission to share with the community!

THANK YOU!
