Plan a Community Litter Clean-up!

Hosting a litter clean-up is a great way to get involved in your community.

Now, learn HOW!

1. We encourage volunteers to register their clean-up events through Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up 2-3 weeks in advance, if possible. This is a great way to track province-wide data, and help volunteers stay connected with events going on around them. They even hold contests and offer prizes to participants!

2. Next, if your cleanup is being held along any municipally-owned OR provincially-owned roadway, you will need to complete a permit application (found below)If you are NOT completing a cleanup along a public roadway (such as a beach, park, or private road), skip to step 3!

3. After the necessary permits are approved, OR if you do not require a permit, please connect with your Waste Services Coordinator for your (free!) cleanup supplies, and coordinate disposal of litter bags. The Waste Services Coordinator can be reached at (902)798-8391 ext. 128, Option 4, or by email via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

4. Lastly, we would love to see all the great work you've done throughout the year - email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any photos or videos that we have permission to share with the community!

THANK YOU!
