Three Mile Plains Water Service Upgrades - Capital Improvement Project
The Municipality of the District of West Hants has awarded a contract to Standard Paving to upgrade/replace the Water Service Connections along Highway #1 in the community of Three Mile Plains. The scope of work includes the following executable work plan:
1. Set up and perform all traffic control and site utilities; 2. Excavate the existing water main stop and the customer service shut-off valve to expose connections; 3. Replace valve boxes as necessary; 4. Pull new Municipex™ service lines from main to curb stop locations; 5. Install new fittings as required to both ends to make appropriate connections; 6. Inspection and sign-off connections by WH Public Works staff; 7. Backfill connections; 8. Reinstate roadways with hot asphalt and base; 9. Topsoil and seed all lawn areas affected by construction; 10. On completion, demobilize all equipment and perform entire site clean-up.
Schedule: Construction is scheduled to be completed before the end of October. Hours of work will generally be weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm. While construction is ongoing, the work area will be limited to one lane of through traffic or full street detours during work hours, causing some minor delays. It is anticipated that traffic control personnel will be utilized for the duration of the project. While performing this work, water will be temporarily disrupted at individual homes as the connections are made.
