Equipment Loan Program
The West Hants Parks & Recreation Department has many free equipment loan programs which allow residents to borrow equipment which helps facilitate physical activity. Please find a list of available equipment below.
Additionally, we welcome residents to drop off any used equipment for us to add to our inventory – provided the equipment is in good working order.
Recycle Your Bicycle Program
The Recycle Your Bicycle Project began as a collaboration between the Municipalities of West Hants, Town of Kentville, the Town of Middleton, and the YMCA. The project in West Hants has been quite successful through the community donating bikes to the Parks and Recreation Department and the refurbishment of those bikes and re-donation and loan of bikes back to community members who are in need or unable, for economic reasons, purchase their own bikes; these are mainly youth identified through recreation programs or by school counselors as being in need.

Geocaching Loan Program
Head out on a treasure hunt around West Hants as you seek & find the caches hidden right under your noses! GPS units available to borrow free from the West Hants Parks & Recreation for a 4-day loan.

Snowshoe Loan Program
Snowshoes are available for a 4 day loan at no cost so that residents of all ages can enjoy outdoor recreation and physical activity in the winter.
Remember that adults should accumulate 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each week. Children need 60 minutes per day!
Snowshoes are available January through March from the West Hants Municipal Office (76 Morison Drive, Windsor). FREE Kayak Loan Program
Explore West Hants by water! We have all the equipment you'll need for your kayak adventure through our FREE kayak loan program! Equipment is available by pre-arranged appointment only from July-October.
