Due to high turbidity (water color issues) caused by the excessing rainfall last night and early morning in our watershed, consumers of the FALMOUTH public drinking water supply (Falmouth Water Utility) are advised to boil all water for 2 minutes before drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth or any other activity requiring consumption. This is to be done until further notice.
The Falmouth Water Utility is doing all it can to resolve the problem and to remedy it as quickly as possible. The water utility, Nova Scotia Environment and the Medical Officer of Health are continuing to monitor the water quality closely and are working in close consultation. It is encouraged that all Falmouth Water Utility consumers take steps to reduce the amount of water utilized during this boil water advisory, which will assist the Utility with remediating the issue sooner.
Fact sheets on water usage during a Boil Water Advisory are available on the Municipality of West Hants website or the local office of Nova Scotia Environment.
